Shah Alam Manufacturing Complex
On the 9th of July, 1985, our first manufacturing plant kicked off in Malaysia. The Proton it rolled out as the First National Car of Malaysia the Proton SAGA. It was an important moment that laid the foundation of Malaysia’s national automotive industry. Then, the journey of success began and since we have expanded our branches to include a host of new facilities. Proton Saga has reached many milestones and became the catalyst that powered PROTON to sales more than 4 million units of PROTON vehicles. High-class engines and assembly building inside the complex manufacture and assemble cylinder blocks, camshafts, and crankshafts for the CamPro engines.
Along with the chief plant, there comes a manufacturing complex that hosts a Multi-Vehicle Factory also known as the “Shah Alam Manufacturing Complex”.
Our plant of Tanjung Malim was officially kicked off in 2004 and started its operations. The aim of building this masterpiece is to strengthen our production capacity to make sure that the demands of all the vehicles of PROTON are met effectively. It holds a capability of 150,000 units annually. However, approximately 60% of the processes of the plant are increasing its efficiency, automation, and safety. This helps in providing a pleasant-sounding environment where all the machines and men can work effectively and safely.
Tanjung Malim Manufacturing Complex
Inside the 250 acres’ compound, there comes 5 major buildings; Body Assembling, Stamping, Engine & Transmission, Final Assembly, and Painting and Trim. With our thirst for innovations and using the new technology with qualified products, these buildings are furnished with an error-proof “Automatic Line Control System”. This system aids the workers to increase the efficiency of production and to improve the quality. From Shah Alam Manufacturing Complex, this new facility can produce multiple products that assemble the vehicles on 3 distinctive platforms.
Casting Plant: This plant is at Glenmarie and is responsible to produce high-class metallic components that include cast iron, aluminum, crankshafts, bearing caps, and cylinder blocks.
Engine & Transmission Plant: In this plant, we operate the cylinder heads, machine cylinder blocks, camshafts, crankshafts, steering knuckles, bearing caps, clutch housing, and transmission cases in order to meet the production demands of both CKD and CBU.
Stamping Plant: This plant holds significant importance in the whole of Southeast Asia as it is the largest plant of its kind there. It comprises press machines whose size ranges from 400 tons to 4,600 tons. These press machines enable the plant to produce more than 9 unique types of stamping equipment.
